Well here we go with another year fellas. What are you hearing about the 8th grade teams this year? I hear that Dacula is loaded. #24 from Young in Grayson and #1 from Cooper's team in Lawrenceville I heard jumped ship and went there. Any other teams too watch out for?

Do you know the D1 divisions? I know 1 division is Shiloh, Grayson, Parkview, and Brookwood.

NL south is Lawrenceville, Archer, South, and Lilburn. That is the only one I know!

After futher research: NL NORTH- Brookwood, Grayson, Parkview, shiloh. NL SOUTH- Archer, Lawrenceville, Lilburn, South. AL NORTH- Buford, Duluth, Mountain View, Norcross, North. AL SOUTH- Collins Hill, Dacula, Mill Creek, North, and Peachtree Ridge.

I hear Shiloh is loaded with RB's.

Now why would #24 and #1 just go to Dacula? 1) Do they have that little faith in their programs to be competitive or 2) were they recruited? That just doesn't make sense to me for them to jump for one season, unless they moved over there.

It still amazes me what some will do to win a Championship that in 5-10 yrs no one will even remember...

To me it wouldn't be as satisfyin' knowin' I played the system in order to win a Ship.

All I know is We(Brookwood) plan on bringin' it this season and all our kids live and go to school together here in the Cluster. There is one kid that I believe lives in the Berkmar Dist., yet he is a non factor and does it for logistics(carpool).

Breaking these boys into two div's is going to be tough, but should make for 2 competative teams...

I also want to thank 2B for having a place for us to throw down and give each other a hard time. I always feel better after comin' on hear and runnin' my mug... : )

Good question mm27. #1 on L'ville coach kept in touch over the football break. Then all of a sudden no calls were being answered or returned. Put it like this we will be a good team and compete for the championship without him. Im just wondering how is Dacula gonna keep all those backs happy and whose gonna take a backseat?

You are right about the season bro....

FYI, B-WOOD DOESN'T RECRUIT...I repeat, B-WOOD DOES NOT RECRUIT!!! There are about 2 to 3 kids from the berkmar area, but for the most part, they've been with the 'Wood since 6/7's, or at least 2 seasons anyways---

we run a tight ship over here & try to look out for the kids well-being (as much as possible, I suppose)

It's going to be interesting to see the way the teams are split, but again, it's all about who wants it though, and it's good that the coaches got some input, but they pretty much don't know about what these kids are REALLY capable of...

You know, it really trips me out that these parents (forget the coaches) are willingly, or allowing themselves to be influenced to take their kids all over the place to get them some "light", or to try and give them shine on particular teams -- Totally ridiculous (in my opinion). 

My feeling is, get your child the proper preparation in the off-season, and then let them show up & show out...but whatever...

Let's get this ball kicked up in the air, let somebody's child catch it, and let's ALL tell him to RUUUUNNNNN!!!!

I had high expectations for PTRidge..hopefully they can gel a bit before they get to us on the schedule...

I'm a lilttle bummed about not seeing Loganville on the schedule this year...always high intensity when they come into town.  It's all good...i'm hearing good things about them - anxious to see these speed demons in action...

Anybody see those Black Knights in action yet?  They were pretty tough last year on their A squad --

nuthin major d1 6-0  d2 6-6.  only reason ptridge d2 scored botched handoff like first play ptr recoverd ball on the 12 or 15 an scored after like 5 plays they could do anything after that. ptr d1 had nothin for us.

Boss, that 'garbage' double wing offense worked just fine the few years I coached the 14s (9th graders) in MAYFL, averaging over 30 points a game. You may be right though, but I'll take my chances. Good luck this season bro!

Does anybody know how Mountain View looked?  What about Archer? Did they improve any from last year?

When I refer to it as being garbage, I mean in relation to the way a team is using it.  I feel it doesn't utilize the athleticism a team has which if i'm not mistaken, Shiloh seems to have a decent amount of them every year.  Mr. doublewing himself over in log'ville was very effective with it also, but the kids were running that since 6yr old I believe, and it wasn't like they had a consistent multitude of studs, maybe 2 tops...

A decent 'mike', LB's that react properly, and ONE corner with decent speed and that offense is shut down. 

Correct me if i'm wrong, but the high school doesn't run that offense primarily, right? So my thought is to get them started  in the system they'll be using for the next 4 years, not that lil' smoke-&-mirrors rec ball stuff - I mean, it's cool for 12 & under, but 8th grade boys aren't being fooled.

In any case, we'll see how it goes this season - still got a LOT of football to play
